You didn't list the speed of your iMac, which is an important consideration when running VPC. It's been my experience that VPC (especially VPC 4.0) will run just about anything.
However, as with games or other programs that put a heavy load on the processor, VPC will not give the same performance as a real PC.
I've tried to run WinAMP on my Mac with VPC 3. I found the performance too poor to be truly useful. My advice would be to just try running Acid or other programs and see what happens!
If you are serious about doing music on your Mac, my advice wouldbe to pursue native Mac programs for best performace. Anybody else out there have any input? Please feel free to post!
