Other players in the FireWire audio game are, or will be Swissonic, Korg & Yamaha. Most every FireWire Solution to hit the market is likely to be based on mLAN licensed technology. Time is the great equalizer on cost & performance. My best advice is to not spend too much right now if you don't have to and wait out the growing pains of the development of this technology.
